Exclusive report into funding for brain tumour research

Almost three quarters (73%) of brain tumour deaths occur in those under 75. For cancer as a whole, deaths under 75 are less than a half (47%). Yet brain cancer continues to receive less than 1% of the national spend on cancer research.

An exclusive new report released on 1st July by Brain Tumour Research shows that treatments for brain tumours lag seriously behind other cancers.

On Tuesday 16th July 2013, Taylan's Project attended Westminster for the All Party Programme Group (APPG) for Brain Tumours meeting to discuss the findings in the new report, National Research Funding for Brain Tumours, and to urge MPs to get behind our call to action for greater funding and support.

I met the lovely Sheila Hancock CBE, who is an activist for Brain Tumour Research and wanted to share this photo with you. x

Sheila Hancock CBE, who is an activist and patron for Brain Tumour Research, attended the parliamentary dinner afterwards along with Professors Geoff Pilkington and David Walker as well as Consultant Neurosurgeon Kevin O’Neill and MPs.  Brain Tumour Research shed more light onto the controversial lack of funding into the deadliest form of cancer for the under 40s.
