Figen to carry the Olympic Flame in memory of Taylan

The London 2012 Organising Committee has announced and confirmed places for over 7,300 people who will be carrying the Olympic Flame as Torchbearers in the Olympic Torch Relay.

Figen Rawlinson, founder of Taylan's Project, was one of these lucky people chosen to carry the Flame in memory of Taylan, and for those patients and families affected by brain tumours.

 Figen said:

'I was so delighted yet emotional when I received the news that I had been nominated by BMW Vines Group.  I would like to thank BMW Vines and in particular, Dealer Principal Mark Hollands for the continued support and once in a lifetime opportunity.
Brain tumours are such a devastating and under-funded disease that leaves families shattered.  Watching your loved one and especially your child trying to fight this disease makes you feel so helpless.
Seeing Taylan's bed empty every day and night, not hearing his voice, not being able to cuddle him and always wondering what he would have looked like is a feeling I cannot describe and I do not want anyone to have to go through this pain.  We all miss him so much and know he would have been proud of his mummy. We need to find a cure and help save lives.'

Figen will be carrying the Olympic Flame on Day 68, Wednesday 25th July in the London Borough of Enfield.
