On Thursday 23rd October, we saw the official launch of the new Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence at the Blizard Institute in Whitechapel, London, in partnership with Queen Mary University of London and in collaboration with the UCL Institute of Neurology.

The event was hosted by Brain Tumour Research Patron the Rt Hon John Bercow MP, and we joined over 100 supporters, scientists and charities from across the UK for a tour the laboratories and to witness the formal unveiling of a new ‘Wall of Hope’.

Guests were given a short presentation about the groundbreaking research being carried out by the research team and about the mission to fund long-term research by building the "critical mass" of research teams which will bring the UK to the forefront of brain tumour research and significantly improve outcomes for brain tumour patients in the future.

Taylan's brother's Kaya and Altay placed our first tiles on the Wall of Hope at this Centre which was a poignant day as 6 years ago this week, we were going back and forth between GPs, opticians and hospitals trying to find out what was wrong and it is when we found out that Taylan had been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour.

Thank you to all our supporters from the bottom of our hearts for getting us here. We really cannot do any of this without you and your continuous help. We will continue to fund vital research in Taylan's memory and help to raise awareness towards such an underfunded cause.
