Wear a Hat Day on Friday 30th March! Get Involved

On Friday 30th March 2012, along with our fellow Brain Tumour Research umbrella groups and member charities, we are asking nurseries, schools, colleges, universities, workplaces, clubs and societies to wear a hat for the day in order to promote awareness of brain tumours and raise vital funds for research.

March is Brain Tumour Awareness Month and we would be extremely grateful if you could help us with our campaign and encourage your staff, colleagues, and/or pupils to ‘wear a hat for brain tumours’.

It is not too late to take part, just let us know and we can help!

If you would like to get involved, simply ask people to Wear a Hat on Friday 30th March in return for a donation to Taylan’s Project. Better still nominate your ‘Head’ to wear a hat for the day and pledge a further donation, or ask your company to match whatever you raise. It really does not matter if there is 2 or 2,000 of you.

You can organise an event around the day and design a hat, make a hat, run a best hat competition, hold a hat quiz, or anything else you can think of.

In previous years, people have held cake sales, coffee mornings, mufti days, competitions and taken on some weird and wonderful challenges along with their ‘wear a hat day’, raising over £7,000 for Taylan’s Project to help towards research into brain tumours.

Brain tumour research receives less than 1% of national cancer research spending in the UK yet this devastating disease kills more children and people under the age of 40 than any other cancer.

‘Wear a Hat Day’ is a fun way of increasing awareness and getting people raising money for an often overlooked form of cancer.

We can supply you with posters to help you promote your event and empty belly posters to add your own message, balloons to decorate your school or workplace, or badges to sell in the run up to the day.  For more information or to get involved please email us

We would also love you to send any photo’s from the day, so we can upload onto our website!

Get those thinking caps on!
